The higher education sector is an important foundation for human capital development and professional advancement. AGIC’s research is based on 2018 data and reviews 20 authorized higher education institutions, including universities, teaching universities and colleges. The study draws on financial statements and official statistical data to assess the sector’s financial and operational trends.
The institutions covered by the study generated aggregate turnover exceeding GEL 118 million, with total assets of GEL 192 million and aggregate profit before tax of GEL 25 million. The analysis indicates an average return on assets (ROA) of 12% and return on equity (ROE) of 24%. The report also presents sector-average liquidity and solvency indicators and comparative financial analysis of the institutions reviewed.
The research additionally examines the number of public and private higher education institutions, the distribution of students across study programs and the competitive environment within the sector. As the publication is based on historical data, it should be treated as a historical industry benchmark that may support market positioning and financial comparison for educational institutions, investors and financial managers.
