    Wine Industry Research in Georgia

AGIC’s research reviews Georgia’s wine industry based on 2018 financial data. The study combines sector financial benchmarks with analysis of key market players, production trends and export dynamics.

Wine production is one of Georgia’s traditional and economically significant industries. AGIC’s research is based on 2018 data and, in its financial analysis, covers 53 market-leading companies classified within the first, second and third size categories, including 15 companies with audited financial statements.

The key wine companies reviewed in the study generated aggregate turnover exceeding GEL 203 million, with total assets of GEL 430 million and aggregate profit before tax of GEL 46 million. The report identifies industry leaders by revenue, assets and profit and also presents liquidity, efficiency and solvency ratios.

The research further reviews production and foreign trade dynamics in the wine market. According to National Wine Agency data, 292 companies processed 245 thousand tonnes of grapes in 2018, while the value of grapes sold reached GEL 312 million. The report also examines wine export destinations and the sector’s key foreign markets. As the study is based on historical data, the publication should be treated as a historical benchmark for Georgia’s wine industry.
