Audit and consulting company AGIC conducted a meat products industry benchmark survey, that serves to identify trends in the meat trade and manufacturing industry, based on the financial statements of the second and third category companies in 2018.
Methodology
The data used in the study are taken from the website of the Reporting Portal, where the annual financial reports are published following the legislation of Georgia. These companies belong to the second and third categories, of which only 9 companies are audited.
This information is based on the data of 2018, focusing on the market leader companies, the number of which is 25. The study focuses on the market of meat products, specifically meat production and export-import, data taken from the website of the International Trade Center.
Research Results
The study examines meat producers and traders whose total turnover exceeds 450 million GEL, whose total assets amount to 166 million GEL, and whose total profit before tax reaches 24 million GEL. The study identified industry-leading companies in terms of revenue, assets, and profits.
The analysis of the data revealed that Georgian companies have the following financial indicators in the meat production industry: profit on assets averaged 13% (ROA) and profit on capital (ROE) 16%. Besides, the financial ratios of the industry’s average liquidity, efficiency, and solvency were determined.
The study also revealed the average data for 2018 companies by category. Of the 25 companies listed, nine companies are in the second category, while the remaining 16 companies are in the third category.
